CAMP CASEY, Republic of Korea - Shinhan University students and 210th Field Artillery Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division/Republic of Korea-U.S. Combined Division Soldiers celebrated the closing of the Culture with Language Exchange Program, June 12, here.

CLEP, a 10-week program started in September 2013, brings together students and Soldiers at Shinhan University to exchange cultural experiences.

This was the first CLEP closing Ceremony the 210th Deputy Commander will participate in since starting four weeks ago, and he is looking forward to the program continuing in the future.

In his remarks, Lt. Col. Karel Morris, deputy commander, 210th FAB, and Jacksonville, Florida native, highlighted how volunteering for the program is a great way to spend your time.

"I would highly recommend that Soldiers volunteer," said Morris. "They would feel comfortable while they are here on the peninsula serving every day."

Spc. Bailey Chapman, joint fire support specialist and Amarillo, Texas native, spoke about his time spent volunteering in the program.

"It has given me an opportunity to see a different culture in a different light," said Chapman. "I've learned a lot about customs and courtesies in Korea."

Soldiers and students alike learned about one another and the importance of community partnerships.

"It taught me about presentation, pronunciation and having confidence," said Jeong, Byeong-Sub, Shinhan University student and Dongducheon citizen. "It was different from Korean presentation, and it was very interesting."

The 210th FAB and Shinhan University will begin the program again in the fall of 2019 as a way to foster the ROK-US Alliance.
