REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. (Oct. 11, 2017) -- Kevin Kee is an aerospace engineer at the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center. He specifically manages plans and programs for AMRDEC's Air Science and Technology portfolio. Kee primarily focuses on consolidating and synchronizing cross disciplinary aviation technology efforts and advocating on behalf of the portfolio. Kee said an exciting part of his job includes exploring new aviation technologies and collaboration opportunities across the Army, DOD, academia, and international partners.

"What I like the most is getting to work with great new technologies and developing them until they are ready to be fielded in the hands of Soldiers," Kee said.

Science and Technology primarily supports the Army's second priority of modernization and defining the future force. The role of S&T is to provide and inform technological options to acquisition programs. Currently, a major program for the aviation community is Future Vertical Lift.

Kee explained, "With an important program of record such as Future Vertical Lift, it is critical that all of the aircraft subsystems and technologies are as reliable as they are capable. Informing future readiness is central to our mission."

Kee has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Huntsville. In a previous job at AMRDEC, he had the opportunity to work with Russian Mi-17 helicopters and was a member of the team that formally recognized the technical capabilities of Russia and the Czech Republic. "As part of this assignment I was also able to directly support U.S. and NATO forces in Iraq and Afghanistan," Kee said. "I would like to invite anyone who is interested in aviation S&T to contact me as we are always looking for innovative thinkers who can realize their vision."

Below are new Army S&T concept areas as an example of AMRDEC aviation technology thrusts:

Decide Faster -- Overwhelming an adversary's Command & Control with advanced processing technologies including intuitive targeting and enhanced assured mobility.

Manned-Unmanned Teaming -- Teams of manned and autonomous vehicles working in concert with mounted and dismounted forces.

Asymmetric Vision -- Enhanced situational awareness for urban canyons with 3-D threats and a dense populace.

Kee said outside of work, his enjoys family time. "I spend most of my free time exploring the world with my beautiful son and daughter and our new quest to make and try new foods together. I also enjoy arranging music for my wife who is a performing cellist and teacher."
