JOINT BASE BALAD, Iraq - Members of the Denver, Colo., based 259th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion gathered outside their company headquarters to recognize eight Soldiers during a promotion and awards ceremony here on March 6.
Capt. Josh Dalton, of Denver, Colo., the 259th CSSB commander awarded four Soldiers with certificates of achievement for exceptional Army physical fitness test and driver's training and others for their outstanding performance.
Sgt. Daniel Slaughter and Spc. Sarah Hernandez, both natives of the Denver area, received awards for excellence in their driver's training skills and work conducted at the 259th CSSB consolidated motor pool.
Master Sgt. John Bert, of Arvada, Colo., and Maj. James Ossey, of Northbrook, Ill., both recognized for scoring above 270 during the APFT with a badge. The APFT badge is given to Soldiers who receive a score of 270 or above on their APFT.
"It's a great day in the Army and our unit when we can get everyone out here and recognize the achievements of our fellow Soldiers," said Dalton.
Receiving the Army Achievement Medals are Master Sgt. Scott Berndt, of Castle Rock, Colo., for qualifying at Smith Range with a perfect 40 out of 40 rounds and Sgt. Darrell Smith, of Youngstown, Ohio for his outstanding work as the battalion mail clerk.
Dalton, with the assistances from, 1st Sgt. J. Tesha Irvin, the 259th CSSB first sergeant, and Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Dobbs promoted two Soldiers, while recognizing their determination and dedication.
Pfc. Aaron Morton, of Denver, Colo., was promoted to the rank of Specialist and Sgt. Kelly Ford, of Aberdeen, S.D., was promoted to Staff Sgt.
"These two Soldiers have worked extremely hard over the past seven months and I'm honored to see them advance in their military careers," said Dalton.
