Three personnel were treated and released on Sept. 14. Information on the four who are still hospitalized, including their conditions and nature of injuries, is protected by HIPPA and cannot be discussed. Names of Special Operations personnel will also not be released due to current policy. Training incidents of this scope and nature involving demolitions are rare. The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School has not had an incident involving demolitions resulting in injury in more than 20 years. This training is inherently dangerous. Cadre and staff do everything within their power to ensure that the training we conduct is safe, with the well-being of our students always as our top priority.
An investigation is ongoing. The SWCS Command is working in conjunction with the Army Safety Center on the formal accident investigation.
