Maj. Gen. Bradley A. Becker, commanding general, Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, hosted an assumption of responsibility ceremony for Command Sgt. Maj. Paul E. Biggs at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall's Conmy Hall Sept. 27.
"We could not ask for a more experienced professional and dedicated leader than Command Sgt. Maj. Paul Biggs, who will help lead this command into the future," Becker said.
"He has a great reputation and a proven track record, having successfully led Soldiers at every level, from squad leader to first sergeant to battalion and brigade command sergeant major to serving at the two-star level in Afghanistan.
"In peace time and in combat, Command Sergeant Major Biggs has led with distinction. Under Command Sergeant Major Biggs' leadership I know JFHQ-NCR/MDW will achieve even greater success as the face of the Army here in our nation's capital and as the face of our nation as we prepare for the 58th Presidential Inauguration," he said.
Biggs served as senior enlisted leader of the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan (CSTC-A) in Kabul, Afghanistan. He served briefly as the command sergeant major of the Army Evaluation Center (AEC) as part of the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) prior to his current selection as the MDW command sergeant major.
"I've observed JFHQ-NCR/MDW for just over two weeks and I've learned just how much The Old Guard, the Army Aviation Brigade and 'Pershing's Own' do each and every day for our Army and for our nation," Biggs said.
"What I am most impressed by is how the mission is accomplished every day in an organization that is made up of the best that our Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp, Army, our senior executive services, our civilian work forces and our inter-agency partners that our nation can provide.
"I am very proud to be standing here. I'm very proud to be serving for, and alongside, each and every one of you, and I look forward to the next 24 to 30 months serving as your command sergeant major," he said.
Biggs thanked Becker for selecting him as MDW's new command sergeant major.
"I am honored, and I look forward to serving with you as a member of the command team," he said.
