PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. -- Three persons with connections to Picatinny and ammo acquisitions were inducted May 11 into the Ordnance Hall of Fame at Fort Lee, Virginia.
Command Sgt. Maj. Larry C. Taylor: Beginning in 1999, Taylor served not only as the Commandant of the Missile and Munitions Non-Commissioned Officer Academy, but also five command sergeant major assignments, including the 832nd Ordnance Battalion, 59th Ordnance Brigade, 19th Theater Support Command, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Monroe, Virginia, and the U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command at Rock Island Arsenal.
Carmine J. Spinelli: Spinelli culminated his 40-year career as the technical director for the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center. He was responsible for all its technical operations. His enduring contributions include the areas of armament and systems engineering, project management, innovation, personnel management, Total Quality Management, life cycle engineering, acquisition strategy and national and international policy.
Chief Warrant Officer 5 (retired) Robert Fairhurst: Fairhurst distinguished himself through his 23 years in the ammunition warrant officer field. In 2004, he served as the Systems Acquisition Manager for Ammunition in the Program Executive Office-Special Programs, Center for Acquisitions and Logistics, United States Special Operations Command. He provided oversight on the development, acquisition, testing, and fielding of a multimillion dollar portfolio of weapons and ammunition in support of Special Operations Forces worldwide. Fairhurst culminated his military career in 2005 with his assignment as a senior munitions planner with the U.S. Central Command.
