VICENZA -- Five Vicenza children will head to London in August to participate in the United Kingdom's premier theatre summer school.

Joshua Scapin Tagua, Rachel and Nicole McCollaum, and Hayden and Kaylee Sink have been accepted to take part in West End Stage, a theatre program geared especially for young people ages 8-21.

This will be the second time attending for Scapin Tagua, 10, and the McCollaum sisters, ages 13 and 16 respectively, as the three participated in last year's program. It will be the third time for the Sink sisters, 13 and 16 respectively, who attended in 2014 and 2015. The children were inspired to apply for West End Stage as they gained their interest in the performing arts from their experience with Soldiers' Theatre on Caserma Ederle.

West End Stage gives young people from all over the UK the chance to perform at Her Majesty's Theatre in the heart of the West End, home to Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera.

Throughout the week, the Vicenza students will join others at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, one of the top drama schools in the UK where the likes of Ewan McGregor, Daniel Craig and Orlando Bloom trained. They will be put through their paces in singing, dancing and drama, as well as receiving specific industry-based workshops led by West End stars.

The students will also be taken to the hit West End musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and, afterwards, have the opportunity to question the cast during a private question-and-answer session; as well as being led in a master class by some of the Charlie cast members.
