<strong>YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea</strong> - As this recent cold spell shows, weather in Korea can change quickly and dramatically. As responsible community members, we need to know where to turn for up-to-the minute weather information and road conditions.

You can count on the <a href="http://yongsan.korea.army.mil ">Garrison web site</a> for current information on weather and road conditions.

Along the top of the page, click on "<a href="http://www.usfk.mil/usfk/weather.aspx">WEATHER</a>" to visit the U.S. Forces Korea Weather page. There, you'll have the option to view current and extended weather information and advisories.

Next to the WEATHER link along the top, you'll find "<a href="http://www.usfk.mil/usfk/roadcondition.aspx">ROAD CONDITIONS</a>." This will take you to an up-to-the minute map of Korea road conditions.

The yellow RADAR section of the USAG-Yongsan web site is where we'll also post current road conditions.

If you're not online, you can call 738-ROAD for a recorded Road condition status announcement. From off post, call 0505-738-7623.

Our mission is to provide excellence in customer support and it's critical for you to know what the road conditions mean. These levels pertain only to on-post conditions for military vehicle movement, but they should give you a good idea of the caution level you should be exercising with your privately owned vehicle as well.

<strong>Green</strong>: Highway conditions are normal.

<strong>Amber</strong>: Military vehicles, other than those required for essential business, will not be driven on highways. O3 / GS-10 and above may authorize usage for essential business.

<strong>Red</strong>: Military vehicles, other than emergency/essential business, will not be driven. O-5 / GS-13 or above may authorize usage for business that cannot be postponed without jeopardizing military requirements. Snow chains or similar devices will be used.

<strong>Black</strong>: All U.S. Government vehicles are prohibited from movement. Commanders of O-6 and above must personally authorize the use of emergency vehicles after the appropriate risk assessment and mitigation actions are considered. Snow chains or similar devices are required, no waivers are authorized.

Also, stay in tune to the <a href="http://yongsan.army-mil.net">Commander's Access Channel</a> on MWR Cable Channel 3. Listen to AFN Korea "The Eagle" at 102.7 FM. Be aware of weather conditions and how they affect your safety. Exercise caution and have a happy and <strong>SAFE holiday season!</strong>
