REDSTONE ARSENAL, Alabama -- The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command's G-3 sergeant major begins the next chapter of his life.

Sgt. Maj. David M. Poehlein retired in a ceremony at the command's Redstone Arsenal headquarters April 24.

During the ceremony Poehlein received the Legion of Merit, an American Flag, the Space Badge, the Honorable Order of Saint Dominic, a certificate of appreciation from the president, a three-star note from USASMDC/ARSTRAT's commanding general, and a certificate of retirement and pin.

Poehlein retires with 32 years of service.
