FORT BENNING, Ga., (Jan. 28, 2015) -- The Family Child Care Program is responsible for ensuring all child care in government privatized homes meets requirements outlined in Army Regulation 608-10 and within Child, Youth and School Services operating procedures.

Before parents drop their children off at someone's home for child care on post, they should verify the provider is certified by the FCC team of experts who provide training in safety, food handling, administering medication, abuse identification and prevention, child growth and development and more.

Parents seeking care in on-post homes should remember that certified homes are monitored closely and background clearances are completed on all Family members 12 years and older. Unauthorized providers endanger those they care for and risk serious personal liability. Unauthorized providers do not offer liability coverage and risk losing housing privileges.

Certified FCC providers receive subsidies and access to resources to promote nutrition, quality care, and a safe and healthy environment. They have access to a CYSS nurse who provides guidance on health-related issues for the children in their care and their own Family members.

Becoming a certified FCC provider requires an investment of time but offers a potential for huge returns on that investment. There is no charge for the training.
