FORT BELVOIR, Va. Aca,!" Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody became the first female four-star general in U.S. military history in a Pentagon ceremony and later assumed command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command from outgoing commander, Gen. Benjamin S. Griffin at Fort Belvoir Friday.
Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey Jr. presided over the ceremony, which included a 17-gun salute, the AMC Band and the AMC ceremonial color guard.
With her promotion, Dunwoody became the first woman four-star general in the U.S. military.
