PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. -- Picatinny's annual Haunted House will open its doors to the public for the 2008 Halloween season on Oct. 18, 24 and 25.
As in years past, gremlins, ghouls, ghosts, witches and monsters will greet visitors. However, new this year is a crazy inflatable obstacle course that is 40 feet long by 18 feet high. The Picatinny Haunted House began entertaining thousands of young and old thrill seekers in the early 1990s.
Last year nearly 2,400 people went through the maze of 11 frightening rooms.
Doors to this year's Haunted House will be open from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on these dates. Tickets, which will be sold at the door, cost $7 for adults and $3 for children 6-12 years old. Children 12 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The attraction is not recommended for children under 6 years old.
A "Cemetery Cafe" will offer graveside dining throughout the event: haunted hamburgers, wicked hot dogs and steaming cauldrons of chili for hungry patrons. Visitors will be able to access the attraction from only one location - Picatinny's entrance on Navy Hill gate off Lake Denmark Road in Rockaway Township.
Detailed directions can be found on the Picatinny Child and Youth Web site included below. The Haunted House is an all-volunteer community event. Proceeds go to the Picatinny Youth Program and the Picatinny Military Unit Fund.
