KATTERBACH, Germany (July 1, 2014) -- The wife of the sergeant major of the Army visited the Katterbach Child Development Center and spent time reading to children there July 1.
Jeanne Chandler, wife of Sgt. Maj. of the Army Raymond F. Chandler III, read "Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes," by Eric Litwin, to U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach preschool children at the CDC. The reading was a hit with the children, who convinced Jeanne to read another book, "Rumble in the Jungle," by Giles Andreae and David Wojtowycz.
Also visiting the facility was Claudia Davenport, wife of Command Sgt. Maj. David S. Davenport, U.S. Army Europe command sergeant major; Madeline Martell, wife of Command Sgt. Maj. Osvaldo Martell, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade command sergeant major; and Patricia Kiefer, wife of Command Sgt. Maj. Mark A. Kiefer, USAG Ansbach command sergeant major. During their stop at the CDC, Sgt. Maj. of the Army Chandler and Command Sgt. Maj. Davenport were engaged in a rountable discussion with Command Sgts. Maj. Kiefer and Martell.
Along with the CDC visit and the roundtable discussion, the Chandlers' and Davenports' visit to Katterbach included a town hall with junior Soldiers and their Families, and a meeting with the 12th CAB's Griffin Reception and Integration Platoon.
