FORT BENNING, Ga., (May 21, 2014) -- Sayers Memorial Library will host the annual 2014 Summer Reading Program June 4 to July 9. Participants will meet in Faith Middle School's gym every Wednesday from 1-2 p.m.
Kimberly Fox, library director, said the program is for ages 8 to 13 years old.
"The Summer Reading Program was devised to bridge school age children from one school year to the other in hopes they don't forget everything they learned in the previous year," she said.
Fox said this year's theme is Paws to Read.
"All the marketing around the program (such as) sign-up sheets (and) prizes has to do with animals with paws," she said.
Entertainment will be provided, which includes Porkchop Productions, Fiddlin' Dan, the Mountain Man, Balloon Man Entertainment and others.
Fox said space is limited so registration is required.
Registration is free and is open through the entire program, she said. Participants must register in person at Sayers Library.
Parents must attend with their children, Fox said. Drop offs are not permitted.
"Last year we had around 450 (participants)," she said.
Fox said they expect the same amount of participants this year, "if not more."
