ARLINGTON, Va. - - More than 60 veterans attended an Army Wreath Laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery as part of an Honor Flight Capital Region tour, April 5, 2014.
Maj. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, Joint Force Headquarters - National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington commanding general greeted and escorted the veterans during their time at ANC.
Honor Flight Capital Region's mission is to provide veterans living in the greater DC-Maryland-Northern Virginia area with a free trip to visit those memorials dedicated to the veterans' sacrifice and service, and to allow the veterans to experience a special day of honor and remembrance.
The group's goal is to locate, encourage, and enable willing and able area veterans to visit their memorials on the National Mall. Priority is given to WW II veterans and terminally ill veterans of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Honor Flight Capital Region is a fiscally sponsored project of United Charitable Programs -- a registered 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
