YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan celebrated the accomplishments of the Moyer Recreation Tax Center staff for assisting the Yongsan community with their 2013 tax preparation and filing here, June 14.
"The efforts of the volunteers and staff at the Tax Center have been crucial for our soldiers to feel comfortable about their tax filing process while overseas," said Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel L. Willing, of USAG Yongsan. "It's an honor to have this opportunity to recognize these soldiers for their hard work and dedication to assisting this community with their tax returns."
According to the tax center records, this year they processed a total of 2,402 returns, including 1,759 federal and 643 state returns. Estimating more than 4.1 million dollars in income tax returns and saving the community approximately $420,000 dollars in tax return preparation fees.
"I really enjoyed having the opportunity to assist this community with our services," said Cpt. Howard Sun, officer in charge of the Yongsan Tax Center. "This couldn't have been done without our tax center staff that is comprised of soldiers, civilians and volunteers, who are trained and certified by the professionals from both the Jag Corps and the internal revenue services."
During the ceremony, the tax center staff was presented with the Army Achievement Medal (AAM) for their prosperous efforts in assisting this garrison with great services during this tax season. The following soldiers were recognized: Pfc. Xiomara Vazquez; Pfc. Tawuana Manley; Pfc. Nathaniel Wilmot; Pfc. Alexander Kim; Pfc. Denzell Grimes; Pfc. Matias Paul; Spc. Philip Cochrane; Spc. Robert Risingsunbraden; Sgt. Matthew Curran; Sgt. Shane Smith; SGT Roberto Galindo; Staff Sgt(P) Shawn Trignano; Sgt. 1st Class Eric Holland; and Cpt. Howard Sun.
"I want to express our sincere appreciation for your diligent efforts and for the superb job all of the tax center staff have done again this year." Willing said. "On behalf of Col. Michael E. Masley, garrison commander of USAG Yongsan, Mr. Paul Stuart, Deputy Garrison Commander, we really appreciate all the hard work and look forward to yet another successful turn out next year."
