FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, Md. (July 18, 2012) -- Anne Arundel County has issued a mandatory public water use restriction effective immediately, which includes Fort Meade.

The restriction follows a 54-inch water main break in Baltimore City that supplies water to northern and western Anne Arundel County.

According to a news released by the county, the following activities are prohibited for the next 10 days until the main is repaired: Watering a lawn or plants with a free-running hose or sprinkler; washing a car, truck, trailer, boat or other equipment at a residence; washing paved or outdoor surfaces and structures; and filling or topping off a residence's swimming pool.

The county is asking businesses, industry and government users to reduce water consumption by 10 percent.
