CAMP HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea -- Good work and good results from the past year were recognized during a Combined Federal Campaign Overseas Unit Awards ceremony March 13 at Tommy D's.

The ceremony wrapped up a successful campaign, according to David Satterfield, the Area III Combined Federal Campaign coordinator.

"The Camp Humphreys 2011 Combined Federal Campaign was a record-breaking success," he said. "The ceremony recognized the tremendous contributions made by the Area III community. The very generous men and women of the Humphreys and Area III communities raised more than $307,000 for charity during the campaign, which is more than $170,000 greater than the 2010 campaign. This great accomplishment comes in spite of the worldwide economic crisis and is nothing short of astonishing. The ceremony also recognizes the hard work, dedication and commitment made by the CFC representatives who led the 2011 CFC-O mission."

The 2nd Infantry Division Deputy Commanding General for Support, Brig. Gen. Timothy J. Edens, reflected on the 80 percent increase in contributions from last year.

"If you remember the old saying, 'it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it is how you play the game,'" Edens said. "Well, this was definitely a win."

The ceremony recognized 38 units in one of four categories: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum.

"A bronze award signifies the unit has achieved an average contribution of $60 per potential contributor and/or 40 percent participation," Satterfield said. "A silver award signifies the unit has achieved an average contribution of $90 per potential contributor and/or 50 percent participation. A gold award signifies the unit has achieved an average contribution of $120 per potential contributor and/or 60 percent participation. A platinum award signifies the unit has achieved an average contribution of $200 per potential contributor and/or 85 percent participation."

Also presented were the All-Star CFC-O Representative Achievement Awards, which recognized the commitment of representatives to provide each potential contributor in their area of responsibilities with the informed opportunity to give. Recipients were Warrant Officer 1 Daniel Oliphant, Capt. Terry Ledesma, and Rachael Redmond. Redmond also received the CFC-O Community Area Project Officer Award.

"The campaign would not be successful without the extensive coordination efforts of the CAPOs at each installation," Satterfield said. "These volunteers serve in a leadership role throughout the campaign, planning, executing and managing the campaign. They put in many long hours to ensure the campaign succeeds, and the mission of making a difference in hundreds of thousands of lives is accomplished. The CFC-O program's success for Area III rests on the leadership and management skills of the CAPO."

The USAG-Humphreys CFC team received the Best Installation Campaign Kickoff Ceremony award.

The Special Merit Award was given to USAG Humphreys and Area III.

The 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery was recognized for having all its batteries achieve platinum status.

"This is the first time I ever saw a whole unit go 100 percent and that's a HOOAH," Satterfield said.

The six batteries raised a total of $59,000.

"I didn't think we would be able to beat last year," Lt. Col. William E. Darne, 6-52 battalion commander. "But, the Soldiers really outdid themselves."
