The Legion of Merit medal was presented to Col. Jerry L. Blixt for his service as Chief of Staff at the Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region and the U.S. Military District of Washington (JFHQ-NCR/MDW) during his farewell ceremony held at Fort McNair, July 25, 2011.

“Policies change, procedures change but the people, is what you remember,” said Blixt during the ceremony to friends, family and staff members. “I will always keep in mind the great memories of the people that I have had the privilege to work with at this command.”

Blixt’s wife Debra was presented the Outstanding Civilian Service medal during the ceremony for her work as a leader and community volunteer improving the quality of life for numerous Soldiers and their families during the past year.

Blixt isn’t traveling far for his next duty station. He has been assigned to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency at Fort Belvoir, Va.
