Col. Scott E. Sanborn assumed command of the Army Air Operations Group from Col. Jill Ludowese during a change of command ceremony at Davison Army Air Field, Ft. Belvoir, Aug. 31.

Maj. Gen. Karl R. Horst, commanding officer of Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and the Military District of Washington (JFHQ-NCR/MDW) was the host for the ceremony and commented on the stellar performance of Col. Ludowese during her time as commanding officer, as well complimenting the Soldiers of the command on their hard work and dedication to duty.

The ceremony was held in the newly refurbished Lakota Hangar, and featured music from the U.S. Army Band Aca,!A"Pershings OwnAca,!A? and a performance of the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps.

The AAOG plans, coordinates, and executes aviation operations, to include regional and worldwide priority air transport for the ArmyAca,!a,,cs senior leadership, selected DoD officials, and Combatant Commanders. It also executes airfield operations at Davison Army Airfield, and provides Air Traffic Services support to the Pentagon helipad and employs rotary wing aviation and engineer technical rescue assets to support designated contingency operations.
