Now is the time to let your voice be heard. Issues for the 2010 Fort Sam Houston Army Family Action Plan Conference are currently being accepted at about 30 locations around post including the Brooke Army Medical Center, Army Community Service, the Post Exchange, the commissary and in/out processing.

The Army Family Action Plan is a conduit for direct input from Soldiers and Family to Army leadership in order to communicate what is working, what is not and have an opportunity to suggest solutions.

The program enlists voluntary representatives who prioritize issues and present them during the conference. This type of feedback to leaders often results in policy changes that become tangible end-products at garrisons across the Army.

As a result the Army committed to building a partnership with Families. That partnership is embodied in the Army Family Covenant.

A famous anonymous quote reads, "I waited around for someone to do something about the problem, until I realized that I was someone."

It underscores the reality that individuals can make a difference if they will only take the initiative. The Army Family Action Plan is the place to be "someone" and make a difference in today's Army for Soldiers, Family members and retirees.

The Installation commander's annual AFAP Conference is scheduled for Sept. 21 to 24 at the Sam Houston Club. Delegates and volunteers are needed now for planning, submitting issues and providing assistance for the event.

Forms are self explanatory. Submit as many issues as you like, using a new form for each issue.
