FORT LEAVENWORTH, KS - Maj. Severt Anderson was inducted June 9 into the Military Order of Saint Christopher, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the U.S. Army Transportation Corps.

Anderson, who has served in the U.S. Army for more than 10 years, is Assistant Operations Officer for the Combined Arms Center-Training at Fort Leavenworth. The award recognizes his outstanding service to the transportation branch, particularly the five years he worked at Fort Eustis, Va., before coming to Fort Leavenworth last October. During his years at Fort Eustis, Anderson was Assistant to the Group S3, Battalion SPO and Company Commander while working with the 7th Transportation Group, 6th Transportation Battalion and 558th Transportation Company.

"This is a signal achievement," said Col. David G. Cotter in presenting the award. "Someone has to identify you as worthy and identify you as significant." Cotter, who is Director of the Command and General Staff College, described Anderson as a "great logistician and a great transporter."

The Saint Christopher Award is reserved for individuals whose careers embody outstanding achievements and accomplishments in the spirit, dignity, and sense of sacrifice and commitment epitomized by Saint Christopher. The Transportation Corps was formed in 1942, and the Army instituted the Order of St. Christopher medal in 1998 to recognize outstanding transporters.
