WASHINGTON, D.C. - Public Service Recognition Week, celebrated May 3-9, honored federal, state, county and local government employees by showcasing an array of services they provide, while informing citizens about public service careers.

The Army, one of the largest federal employers, used the venue as an opportunity to thank its Soldiers, Families and Civilians - and to highlight their contributions, why they do what they do, and how well they do it.

This year's theme, "Innovation and Opportunity," focused on the breadth of cutting-edge work accomplished being done by public employees and the broad array of career opportunities available in government.

With its focus on workforce development, readiness and service, the Installation Management Command seized the opportunity to promote the recognition of its people and their service to our nation. This was the first year IMCOM participated with three displays: IMCOM and its subcommands - Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command; and Army Environmental Command.
