McALESTER ARMY AMMUNITION PLANT, Okla. -- The major support command leader responsible for conventional ammunition life-cycle functions of logistics sustainment, readiness and acquisition support for all U.S. military services visited one of her subordinate units here, Sept. 4.

Col. Michelle M. T. Letcher assumed command of the Joint Munitions Command at Rock Island Arsenal, Ill, June 14. McAlester Army Ammunition Plant is one of 17 installations under JMC and one of 23 organic industrial base facilities under the U.S. Army Materiel Command.

During her visit, Letcher received a walking tour of an operational bomb production line, learned about a new production line under construction and the capabilities it provides, gained insight into the logistics operations mission, and saw firsthand how the X-Ray facility provides quality control of munitions.

"It's very impressive," said Col. Michelle M. T. Letcher, commander, Joint Munitions Command. "Part of it is the passion of your employees."

Col. Joseph D. Blanding, MCAAP commander, encouraged her to visit again when she could see and learn more about the installation's mission.

"In the limited amount of time she spent with us, Col. Letcher came away from the visit with a better appreciation of how MCAAP delivers readiness to our nation's warfighters," said Blanding. "We look forward to her next visit when we can show her how other MCAAP directorates support our ammunition and logistics operations."
