FORT STEWART, Ga. The Family Readiness Group for the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Divsion held a volunteer appreciation party at Club Stewart, March 18 to acknowledge the FRG volunteers who have made significant contributions to the brigade's mission over the last quarter.
Aca,!A"Today, we are recognizing six wonderful volunteers from the Raider Brigade who have been nominated by their battalion as the most outstanding volunteer for last quarter,Aca,!A? said Michelle Allen, 1st HBCT Family Readiness Support Assistant.
During the ceremony, each battalion commander gave a short speech about the individual receiving an award.
Aca,!A"The FRG is the communication channel from the commander to the Families and back,Aca,!A? Allen explained, Aca,!A"but itAca,!a,,cs also a social component for the Army Family, and it includes any Family Member who wants to be involved as well as single Soldiers.Aca,!A?
Although this volunteer recognition ceremony was the first since the 1st HBCTAca,!a,,cs return from Operation Iraqi Freedom V, Allen has high hopes in hosting future events like this one.

Allen added that volunteers work hard everyday to ensure Soldiers and Families have the support system they need.
Aca,!A"Most of our volunteers will be the first to tell you that they donAca,!a,,ct deserve (recognition),Aca,!A? Allen said. Aca,!A"But quite frankly, these people put in hundreds of hours a month for their unit and the Families around them, and they do deserve it.Aca,!A?
