Fort Huachuca, Arizona - Fort Huachuca's 305th Military Intelligence Battalion hosted a change of command ceremony June 26 at Chaffee Parade Field.

Outgoing Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Adam J. Boyd, passed the colors and the responsibility of the 305th MI Battalion to incoming Commander, Lt. Col. Jorge A. Arredondo.

Col. Kevin R. Wilkinson, 111th MI Brigade commander, along with Boyd and Arredondo conducted an inspection of troops during the ceremony.

The act of inspecting troops dates back to Alexander the Great and allows for the outgoing commander to do a final review of the troops.

"Jorge Arredondo is the right leader to take this great battalion to the next level," Wilkinson said.

"Lt. Col. Boyd, you and your team have performed magnificently," Wilkinson added. "I could stand here for hours listing all the great things you have [accomplished] in the 305th over the last 24 months.

"You led by action, not by words."

Boyd will relocate to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., to serve as a senior intelligence trainer.

"I look forward to moving out to the National Training Center because the beautiful thing will be, I will get to see these young Soldiers when they get to their first duty assignments coming through the training center," said Boyd.

"We're very excited to be here," said Berta Arredondo, the incoming commander's wife. "We've been waiting for this day for a while, and are excited to see old friends and new friends."

Arredondo's most recent assignment includes a joint task force with duty at the El Paso Intelligence Center in El Paso, Texas.

"It's an honor to be back," said Arredondo. "The Soldiers look great, and I look forward to leading them."
