National Library Week - Proclamation

FORT BENNING, Ga., (April 16, 2014) -- WHEREAS, libraries on Fort Benning have historically helped change the lives of Soldiers, civilians, Family members, retirees and other customers;

WHEREAS, Fort Benning libraries work to meet the changing needs of our Soldiers, civilians, Family members, retirees and other customers, including providing resources for everyone and bringing services outside of the library walls;

WHEREAS, libraries and librarians bring together Soldiers, civilians, Family members, retirees and other customers to enrich and shape the MCoE and Fort Benning community;

WHEREAS, librarians are trained, tech-savvy professionals, providing technology training and access to downloadable content like e-books;

WHEREAS, libraries design and offer programs to meet the needs of Soldiers, civilians, Family members, retirees and other customers, providing lunch and learn seminars on new materials, database training for incoming students and story time for preschoolers;

WHEREAS, libraries continuously grow and evolve in how they provide for the needs of Soldiers, civilians, Family members, retirees and other customers of the MCoE and Fort Benning community;

WHEREAS, libraries, librarians, library workers and supporters across America are celebrating National Library Week;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that I, Maj. Gen. H.R. McMaster proclaim National Library Week, April 13-19, 2014. I encourage all Soldiers, civilians, Family members, retirees and other customers to visit a Fort Benning Library this week to take advantage of the wonderful library resources available @ your library. Lives change @ your library.
