Army announces additional aviation safety training

WASHINGTON -- The Department of the Army announced today additional safety training for rotary-wing pilots and maintainers across all components effective immediately.

During the training, the following actions will occur:

  • Academic instruction on power management and spatial disorientation will be conducted.
  • All organizations will conduct training on the background and requirements of the new Risk Common Operating Picture.
  • Technical proficiency training for maintainer MOSs in accordance with the Aviation Maintenance Training Program will be provided.

Active-duty units will have 30 days to complete the training, and National Guard and Reserve units will have 60 days for completion.
