Smartbook

  • Department of the Army (DA) Pamphlet (PAM) Posting of Extended/Smartbook Content: DA PAMs 600-3, 600-25, 601-280, and 611-21 Background.  Because it takes too long to publish changes to DA PAMs and get them posted on the Army Publishing Directorate (APD) website https://armypubs.army.mil/ - which is where all DA administrative publication are available to the public. G-1 has established a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with APD on the disposition of DA PAMs 600-3, 600-25, 601-280, and 611-21. This MOA allows us to have base pamphlets posted for each of these PAMs (containing basic information) with Uniform Resource Locator (URL) links to the additional supporting, extended content that changes frequently. The MOA provides specific procedures to the management of the supporting, extended content (also known as “smartbooks”) for these DA PAMs: 600-3; 600-25; 621-11; 601-280. These links as published in their base PAMs on the APD website and are currently displayed at milsuite sites/platforms, but will now be located here- where all the fluid/expansive information from these PAMs is contained and is regularly updated by the PAM G-1 proponents. The reason for this change is to bring the smartbooks in compliance with the Administrative Procedures Act (APA)—Public Law (PL) 79–404, 60 Stat. Any management of the G-1 website content – to include changes in content-continue to meet the conditions of the MOA (to include O6/GS 15 level approval of changes).
