During the Family day, Louisville ROTC also hosted the ceremonies for its German Armed Forces Proficiency Test, officiated by German officer Capt. Daniel Krebs and German Command Sgt. Maj.

Thomas Kleinhenz.

The Family day events began with an opening ceremony for the proficiency test with remarks from Lt. Col. Michael Kitana, professor of military science, Louisville, as well as remarks from German guests.

Family day, which was open to all Families of 2nd Bn., 2nd Inf. Regt., consisted of a rock wall, bounce house, jousting pit, sumo wrestling, face painting, video games, raffle, barbecue and other miscellaneous events and stations.

"I had an awesome time at the Family day event held at the Louisville Stadium," said Kindra Thomas, Family member. "The events were well organized. The food was great, and the people

were friendly."

While attendees participated in the Family Day events, some also chose to participate in the GAFB Test.

The GAFB is one of the few approved foreign awards for use on the U.S. military uniform.

The proficiency test is an evaluation to show a Soldier is both physically and morally fit.

"This was a great event hosted by the U of L," said Maj. Adam Rudy, executive officer, 2nd Bn., 2nd Inf. Regt. "It gave our Soldiers the opportunity to earn the GAFB while allowing Families to be part of their accomplishment."

Participants for the GAFB included members of ROTC, 2nd Bn., 2nd Inf. Regt., 19th Engineer Battalion, Louisville Metro Police Department, Louisville Fire and Rescue, and Army National Guard and Reserve members.

Multiple Soldiers with the 2nd Bn., 2nd Inf. Regt., earned the GAFB for their accomplishments during the testing.

The Soldiers participated in a timed swim, a written exam, marksmanship qualification, run, ruck march, measured high jump, shot put and timed sprints.

Other events included weapons demonstrations, vehicle demonstrations, an ice cream and slushy bar, booths from local shops, demonstrations from the civilian organization, and information booths for the 4th Indiana Field Artillery and ROTC.

The Family day concluded with a drawing and GAFB presentations.
