Team CECOM,

CG’s Quick Take: GEN James Rainey was recently on the 'War on the Rocks' Podcast, discussing the future of war and what it means for our Army. From his seat leading Army Futures Command, he offers incredibly valuable insight on pertinent topics for CECOM, including transformation, advancing technology, and innovative solutions for our warfighters. He also identified two areas that our Army “needs to close some ground quickly”: data-centric warfare and autonomy/unmanned systems. The latter, which includes UAV, counter UAV, and EW, is the more immediate challenge of the two. The good news for CECOM is that these are areas where we have something to offer the force—but in doing so, we will have challenges to address. One challenge, which I hope you can take a moment to consider as you listen to this podcast, is: “Why CECOM?” We possess the capabilities to deliver readiness for our Soldiers. However, we also need to acknowledge that if we don't drive the conversation, we may end up as a passenger along for the ride. You can listen to the full episode here.

On Wednesday, I joined the TYAD team for a great change of command ceremony to bid farewell to CECOM Tobyhanna Army Depot Commander COL James Crocker. We also welcomed COL Ben Kilgore to the CECOM family. Throughout COL Crocker's leadership over the last few years, TYAD saw significant growth in capabilities and achieved major milestones, and the CECOM team is grateful for his years of service. We are also very excited for COL Kilgore to step in and lead the team as we continue to deliver readiness for our force. COL Crocker is on his way to AMC G3 where he will lead AMC’s sUAS program.

On Friday, we will also bid farewell to CW5 Linc McCoy, who is retiring after over 30 years of service. CW5 McCoy has been a vital member of our CECOM leadership team, providing technical expertise to our organization and dedicating a significant portion of his time to community programs throughout Maryland. CW5 Kevin Banks has been with us for a few weeks, familiarizing himself with CECOM and his new role as Command Chief Warrant Officer. CW5 Banks most recently served as the senior technology advisor to the J6 in the CENTCOM AOR, and as we continue to transform throughout the Army and CECOM, his experience and knowledge will enhance our team's efforts. The ceremonies for CW5 McCoy and CW5 Banks begin at 1100 in the Myer Auditorium. For those of you who would like to attend virtually, you can join us here.

Our Army Reprogramming Analysis Team, or ARAT, represented CECOM SEC during a data pilot event last week in support of CyberQuest 25 at Fort Gordon. ARAT collaborated with other Army Electronic Warfare (EW) leaders, including ARCYBER and the DEVCOM C5ISR team, to demonstrate EW capabilities for senior leaders from TRADOC, ARCYBER, and the Cyber Center of Excellence. Recorded data was returned to the ARAT Signal Analysis Team at APG for analysis during the demonstration. The techniques and results of that analysis were then distributed and implemented on systems at the Fort Gordon test range and laboratory. During the next phase, ARAT will continue working with EW partners to solidify EW techniques and practices for the entire force, cementing CECOM as a cornerstone of the Army's EW enterprise. Excellent work, ARAT and CECOM SEC!

I am incredibly proud of this team, and I would like to thank you all for your continued dedication to our increasingly important mission. Recent news has highlighted the importance of a prepared force, and you all play a crucial role in providing capabilities for our warfighters. Thank you for all you do!

This We’ll Defend!
