CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – Republic of Korea Army soldiers recently completed combined maneuver training this month at the National Training Center in California alongside their American-military counterparts.
Eighth Army helped coordinate the training event and provided a support team to the ROKA troops while at NTC. Advisors from the 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade also facilitated the training in order to enhance interoperability between ROK and US forces.
While at NTC, ROKA troops focused on urban warfare tactics, raids, long-range fires mission procedures, live-fire exercises and MEDEVAC procedures.
Units from the Republic of Korea Army regularly travel to NTC on an annual basis for training that improves their warfighting capabilities and interoperability with working with U.S. Army units. Work conducted by the ROK and U.S. units ultimately strengthens the ROK-U.S. alliance and are part of the U.S. Army’s enduring efforts within the Asia-Pacific region.
The NTC is located at Fort Irwin in California’s high desert and is an isolated area where troops can conduct real-world training in an austere environment. The NTC is more than 1,000 square miles in size, providing a large venue for various maneuver and other realistic training.
