FORT SILL, Oklahoma (Aug. 23, 2021) -- The Integrated Personnel and Pay System - Army (IPPS-A) is a new tool Soldiers will have in their hands to manage personnel and pay matters late this year.

Lt. Col. Aaron Parker, Fires Center of Excellence G1 & G4 manager/director (human resources and logistics), is leading efforts to ensure Fort Sill is ready.

Leading up to that event, Parker is holding town halls the end of each month to provide system updates and field questions from Soldiers here.

System awareness begins with a smart phone app that serves as the gateway to IPPS-A.

"Every Soldier must understand how to manipulate and navigate the IPPS-A dashboard so they understand how to review records and view what the system offers," said Parker.

In his role as the installation G1, Parker ensures that 42A Human Resources personnel here have met the training requirements and gained sufficient system knowledge of IPPS-A to carry out their duties. He said this training should be finished by the end of August.

Additionally, all Fort Sill Soldiers will complete required training to help them better understand the system.

Parker said IPPS-A will move away from hard copy packets to a digital database of human resources records covering all personnel matters. The system includes information about pay, though the lieutenant colonel said a military pay office will continue to operate on post and assist Soldiers as needed.

Instead of visiting the unit S-1, IPPS-A will provide Soldiers 24-hour access via their smart phones.

"Every Soldier will have access to the IPPS-A, because they will have their own individual dashboard where they can see, monitor, and track their personnel records, awards, and such,” he said.

While Soldiers can request changes to their personnel records, 42-series Soldiers will complete all transactions to ensure the changes meet Army requirements.

Parker added IPPS-A will give commanders access to unit strength reports, and authorizations versus how many Soldiers the commander actually has. Ultimately, it will provide a combination of data to help commanders get a good picture of unit readiness.

A blackout period will go into effect Nov. 23 when human resources systems begin to migrate to the new system. Some daily requirements will continue and be handled by human resources personnel.

Parker said brigade level S-1s will be able to handle questions. Senior leaders are welcome to call him for their concerns or questions via email or by calling 580-442-1072
