FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. - Members and Families of the Brotherhood of U.S. Army Veterans Association (BUSAVA) participated in a tour of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence (USAICoE) and Fort Huachuca from June 6-8.
Each year, the association selects a location for their annual alumni reunion. This year they chose Fort Huachuca as their host.
Fort Huachuca was chosen because of its ceremonial cavalry team know as B Troop, 4th U.S. Cavalry Regiment said Robert Buckalew, president of BUSAVA.
BUSAVA began as an organization of WWII 15th Cavalry Veterans; the association counts former armor, cavalry, infantry and military police among its members today, but continues to honor its origin with the WWII Veterans of the 15th Cav.
According to Buckalew, "The last member of that first organization, Tech Sgt. Roy Edward Huelbig, passed away in 2016".
The Group regularly draws 40, including members, spouses and children or grand-children (all of full age), who accompany an elderly parent or grandparent during the tours.
During their visit they received a Command Brief, toured both the Military Intelligence Heritage Museum and the Fort Huachuca Museum, observed the B Troop Riding School, and attended the 309th Change of Command ceremony, where they witnessed B Troop in action.
"I was looking forward to witnessing the Cavalry Charge at the end of the ceremony," said Buckalew. "I was not disappointed."
