FORT HOOD, Texas -- The job hunt just got easier as the Fort Hood Soldier for Life -- Transition Assistance Program brings employers together all in one spot at the semi-annual Summer Mega Career Fair, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. here at Club Hood.
The free event is open to all job seekers -- Soldiers, Army Civilian employees and Family Members -- for the opportunity to link-up with multiple potential employers during a five-hour span all in one spot!
Previous career fairs have seen in excess of 175 vendor employers recruiting for local, state, national and international companies and agencies with over 5,000 soldiers attending.
The Transition Assistance Program provides career fairs to connect transitioning Soldiers from Fort Hood with employers looking to hire Veterans.
With so many organizations, companies, and support agencies offering a plethora of on-line options, the fair offers a unique opportunity for transitioning Soldiers to interact, network, and have face-to-face conversations with recruiters.
The experience alone provides valuable information and experience to Soldiers as most recruiters provide guidance and recommendations on their hiring processes, their industry, and the job market, while answer questions not readily available on company websites.
Several Central Texas police departments, the Killeen Independent School District, universities and government contractors will be present to include employers from across the country, representing a wide variety of industries, including law enforcement, medical, and oil and gas.
The Transition Assistance Program publishes a list of companies and agencies attending to their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/FortHoodSFLTAP/. Weekly updates will be provided until the event.
The Fort Hood Soldier for Life -- Transition Assistance Program recommends arriving early, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. while recruiters are still in full swing with plenty of information to share.
It's not uncommon to see some employers pack up a bit early, having achieved what they came to Fort Hood for -- speaking with a number of solid applicants, candidates, and potential hires.
Club Hood is located at 5764 24th Street (& Wainwright Drive), near the installation's East Gate, at Killeen's Rancier Avenue and North Fort Hood Street.
