FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade welcomed the newest unit, the 151st Division Aerial Delivery Company, to the 82nd Airborne Division during a ceremony here, October 21, 2016.

The company's projected size of approximately 200 Paratroopers will increase the Division's capability to air drop more equipment to the warfighter.

"The activation today of the 151 DAD clearly demonstrates the Army's commitment to the readiness and training of the 82d Airborne Division as it maintains its ability to fight tonight as part of our XVIII Corps' Global Readiness Force mission," said Col. Gavin Gardner, 82nd ADSB Commander.

The 151st DAD assumes responsibility of the Brigade's heavy drop and air items maintenance mission.

"The company will increase the Division's capability of dropping 400,000 lbs. per day to 500,000 lbs.," said Capt. Colton Crawford, 151st DAD Commander. "We split from the 11th Quartermaster Company to better optimize the productivity between the parachute pack shed, air items maintenance and aerial delivery"

The new Rigger company will essentially double the brigade's ability to rapidly prepare equipment and supplies for aerial delivery.

An additional Platoon of Riggers was created in the 11th QM enabling the 82nd ADSB to pack more than 10,000 individual parachutes a month for the division.

"It is a tremendous honor to be the inaugural commander starting the history of the unit," Crawford said. "The amount of trust from the Rigger motto 'I will be sure always' put into every piece of equipment packed and dropped is exciting to be a part of."
