SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii -- The Pacific Theater's senior Army logistics unit changed leadership July 8 on Hamilton Field, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Maj. Gen. Edward F. Dorman III relinquished command of the 8th Theater Sustainment Command to Maj. Gen. Susan Davidson during the ceremony hosted by Gen. Robert Brown, commander of U.S. Army Pacific.

The 8th Theater Sustainment Command is the Pacific Theater's senior Army logistics unit. The 8th TSC is responsible for synchronizing logistics and supply efforts for land operations throughout the vast region, and the unit's more than 5,000 troops represent 167 different skill sets, with 35 unique capabilities, to include military police, explosive ordnance disposal, Army watercraft, dive, engineer, transportation and sustainment operations.

In honoring the outgoing commander, Maj. Gen. Dorman on his departure to become the Central Command Director for Logistics, GEN Brown said "With the tyranny of distance, the frequency of natural disasters, and the number of places where we have Soldiers operating in any given week, logistics and sustainment of our forces is an enduring decisive operation in our theater. Over and over again, we have relied on this Command and General Ed Dorman to sustain the Army and the joint team in this expansive Indo-Asia-Pacific region, and you have never failed us."

"Davidson brings an incredible wealth of experience," continued Brown. "She is no stranger to Hawaii, having served in several key positions in the 25th Infantry Division as well as Commanding the 599th Transportation Group, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) at Wheeler Army Airfield.

Davidson last served as the commanding general of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

"In this theater, where "Fight Tonight" is not a slogan but a way of life, the troopers on the field have truly personified this thought, demonstrating daily the qualities of practical intelligence, of courage, of hardihood, and endurance, and the power of devotion to this lofty ideal," Dorman said. "Professional, responsive, engaged, mission enhancing, innovative, ensuring readiness and relevant."

"I know how blessed I am to be back in Hawaii in support of our Pacific warriors," Davidson said. "To U.S. Army Pacific and to all the members of 8th TSC, I pledge to do my very best for you every minute of this amazing opportunity. I can't wait to get started. I will not let you down."

Dorman and his family are heading to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla., where he will serve as the J4, logistics commander, for Central Command.
