June 28, 2016 1 / 2 Captain Chanthamalinh graduated in 2004 from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.After eight years of service with the Air Force, CPT Chanthamalinh transitioned into the Army. He was commissioned as an Army Signal Corps Officer through the Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia in June 2010.After graduating from OCS, CPT Chanthamalinh was assigned to Charlie Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Red Cloud, South Korea, where he served as a JNN Platoon Leader. Following South Korea, CPT Chanthamalinh was assigned to 277th Aviation Support Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY, where he served as Battalion S6. He was previously assigned to 3rd Squadron, 71st Calvary Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, where he served as Assistant Squadron S6. During his tenure with 371st CAV, he was selected as the Signal and Logistic Advisor for a Security Force Advisory and Assistance Team, Task Force Titan and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom XIV-XV.His military education includes Airmen Leadership School, NCO Professional Development Course, Signal Officer Basic and Advance Courses.CPT Chanthamalinh's awards include the Army Commendation Medal (two Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement (one Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service, Ribbon (one device), NATO Medal
