FORT BENNING, Ga. -- The Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade has a new C-130 training simulator that will add value to the Basic Airborne Course, Jumpmaster School and Pathfinder School. The simulator was transferred from Moody Air Force Base, about 10 miles north of Valdosta, Georgia.

The simulator will give students in all three courses some additional and welcomed training opportunities.

"For Jumpmaster, students will have the opportunity to practice their door checks in the aircraft before they are tested," said Capt. Jesse Sheehan, executive officer for 1st Battalion (Airborne), 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

Additionally, students in the Pathfinder course will have a chance to review re-supply operations from a C-130. Basic Airborne Course students will receive an informal block of instruction on the overall characteristics of a C-130, how to properly hook-up, how to maneuver the aircraft and proper exiting procedures, said Sheehan.

The simulator is one of many apparatus upgrades that the Airborne and Ranger Training Brigade has worked to obtain over the past 18 months and is expected to be fully functional by early June, said Sheehan.
