FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina (Aug. 19, 2015) -- Officials from the Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, conducted an acquisition forecast open house in conjunction with the 14th Annual North Carolina Defense and Economic Development Trade Show here Aug. 3 for 139 current and prospective federal contractors.
The acquisition forecast forum was held in the Cumberland Hall Auditorium on the Fayetteville Technical Community College campus. Col. Carol Tschida, the 419th Contracting Support Brigade commander at Fort Bragg, provided opening remarks and welcomed those in attendance.
Gloria Carr, the director for MICC-Fort Bragg, informed the contractors that the briefing represents an overview of forecast opportunities for fiscal 2015 fourth quarter and first quarter of fiscal 2016 and that the range of value or price are subject to change.
Guest speakers included congressional representatives, Maj. Gen. Al Aycock, director of operations for the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management, and Maj. Gen. Jefforey Smith, the deputy commanding general for the XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg. The speakers addressed the importance of the military presence in North Carolina and how the North Carolina Military Business Center assists state businesses by matching them up for government contracting opportunities.
During the forecast forum, Tschida presented a commander's award to Deborah Word, the MICC-Fort Bragg small business specialist, for her support and dedication toward the contracting office's small business goals.
Earlier that day, Tschida, Carr and Word were joined by the MICC's Georgette Dilworth, Anne Talbot, Rebecca Fentzke, Virginia Roberts, LaTanya Johnson, Leotis Bell and Staff Sgt. John Gyaben for the Defense Trade Show kickoff breakfast. The breakfast was hosted by congressional representatives, the NCMBC and Fayetteville Technical Community College.
