SHOALWATER BAY TRAINING AREA, Australia - General Vincent Brooks, U.S. Army Pacific commanding general, visited Soldiers July 27 training in Australia as part of Talisman Saber 2013.

Talisman Saber, currently in its fifth iteration, is a biennial training exercise that hones the interoperability of U.S. and Australian militaries. The bilateral training included a variety of missions from conventional conflict to peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance efforts.

Brooks visited U.S. Army Pacific Soldiers training with their Australian counterparts at Shoalwater Bay training area in Queensland. He presented award to several Soldiers with 4th Brigade, 25th Infantry Division and toured areas of the battlefield to view training first hand.

"This training helps to move faster when our nation calls us to do what we need to do," said Brooks.

Brooks concluded his visit with a round table luncheon with U.S. and Australian Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines at Camp Rocky. Service members were encouraged to share their personal experiences from Talisman Saber and provide feedback for the next iteration.

"It's important we identify what we need to work on for next time," said Brooks, "This doesn't end with the exercise, the reality of us actually being called up to do something together exists and we need to always be primed for success."
