GRAFENWOHER, Germany -- Heide Hurd, Netzaberg Middle School gym teacher, pumps up students before the 400-meter Kinder Shuffle during the Shamrock Shuffle, here, March 16.

Netzaberg Middle School student leaders and the PTSA sponsored the Second Annual Shamrock Shuffle. The community focus for this event was the Chaplain's Closet at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, which supports Wounded Warriors as they transition from the combat zone to the United States.

Netzaberg Middle School also sponsored a "Euros for Heroes" Seminar challenge, March 4-14. The challenge was to see which seminar could raise the most money for the Chaplain's Closet. During the 10 days of this challenge, NMS raised $3,019.

During the Shamrock Shuffle, NMS challenged the community to match the school's fundraising efforts. A basket auction, sponsored by the Army Career and Alumni program, raised $624.50 and participants donated an additional $1,103.80 into the "Euros for Heroes" collection jar.

The total donations during the run came to $1,728.30 and combined with the school's internal donations, they raised $4,747.80 for Wounded Warriors.
