BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan--The commander of the U. S. Air Force Air Mobility Command visited the 401st Army Field Support Brigade Jan. 17 to see first hand the scope of the brigade's equipment retrograde mission and discuss his command's role in that mission.
U.S. Air Force General Paul Selva, commander Air Mobility Command, U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Jacqueline Van Ovost, director for mobility forces, Air Force Central Command and U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Richard Kaiser, U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command command chief master sergeant, visited the AFSBn-Bagram, 401st AFSB area where vehicles awaiting transportation for retrograde are staged. They were briefed by Lt. Col. Todd W. Burnley AFSBn-BAF commander, on the retrograde velocity for the battalion and the brigade as well as the overall number of pieces of rolling stock that need to be retrograded from theater.
The Air Mobility Command will be a critical partner to the 401st AFSB in removing non-mission essential equipment from the battle space in the next 18-24 months.
