FORT LEE, Va. -- Soldiers from Echo Company, 832nd Ordnance Battalion and the 59th Ordnance Brigade Chaplain's Office, part of the U.S. Army Ordnance School, supported the Chesterfield County Humane Society "Food for Paws" program with a donation of pet food and other supplies Jan. 22.
The combined effort resulted in 16 cases of dog food and various pet supplies being delivered to the humane society. First Lt. Royah Yeh, executive officer, and Staff Sgt. Jason Smith, platoon sergeant, presented the donation with the help of Sgt. Bryan Lagios, Sgt. Daniel Malm, and Spc. Joshua Mathis, who are in training at the Ordnance School.
"The humane society was very appreciative of our donation," Yeh said. "They were running low on basic supplies so this should help them care for the animals for a while."
The company is looking for more ways to expand its support of the humane society with future events and volunteer opportunities, Yeh added.
The Ordnance School is part of the Combined Arms Support Command, a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. This outreach project is part of CASCOM's pilot Community Connect program which enables military members and the community to work together to maintain a strong and positive partnership.
