WINDISCHESCHENBACH, Germany -- (From left) Staff Sgt. Teresa Kee, Noncommissioned Officer Academy, 7th Army, Sgt. 1st Class Jennifer Connelly, Bavarian Medical Department Activity, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Education, and Staff Sgt. Christoffer Brodsky, Noncommissioned Officer Academy, 7th Army, stand with the children at Haus St. Elisabeth in Windischeschenbach after delivering toys to them, Dec. 19.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Sergeant Morales Club in Grafenwoehr sponsored a toy drive for the children at Haus St. Elisabeth. The house serves as a kind of foster home for children whose parents are unable to care for them due to mental illness, extreme poverty or other debilitating issues. The children stay at St. Elisabeth's for most of the week and with their families at least one day per week.
Along with providing the life skills the children will need once they live on their own, St. Elisabeth's offers outings, animal therapy and other resources the children otherwise wouldn't have access to.
