ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. -- A management support officer was named employee of the year by the U.S. Army's Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center, or CERDEC, here, June 19.
Tara Thompson was recognized in the mid-level administrative management category for her work as the management support officer for CERDEC's Command, Power & Integration, or CP&I, Directorate during the 2011 Base Realignment and Closure as CERDEC relocated from Fort Monmouth, N.J. to APG.
Thompson was recognized for her efforts to make the BRAC transition as smooth as possible for the more than 300 personnel working for CP&I. She created BRAC checklists for employees, updated all personnel databases and initiated a new tracking system for new hires.
This was all completed as Thompson took on extra responsibilities after the retirement of several other employees due to the BRAC.
The accomplishments made by Thompson in 2011 ensured the work of CP&I continued without disruption, supporting the missions of CERDEC and the U.S. Army.
