CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind. -- A March 1 ribbon-cutting ceremony 1 symbolically marked the point that all deploying and redeploying contractors will be processed here.

Previously, contractors processed through the CONUS Readiness Center at Fort Benning, Ga. The changed stemmed from Headquarters, Department of the Army Executive Order 267-11, effective Sept. 1, 2011.

The ceremony showcased successful the transition from Fort Benning.

As part of this program, the Army Sustainment Command established an element for all non-LOGCAP (Logistics Civilian Augmentation Program) contractors.

The five-day process includes educating, conducting medical examinations, providing proper equipment, and preparing contractors for deployment.

ASC is leveraging existing capabilities and capacity, teaming with Camp Atterbury, Medical Command, Dental Command, and Installation Management Command for support.

Since the program's inception at Camp Atterbury, 13,030 civilians, including contractors, have been processed. And as of Feb. 18, 5,751 civilians have deployed/redeployed in fiscal 2012, Atterbury officials said.
