"NSSC This Week," the biweekly newsletter of the Natick Soldier Systems Center, took first place in the 2011 U.S. Army Installation Management Command Maj. Gen. Keith L. Ware public affairs communications awards, which were announced Feb. 21.
The NSSC newsletter won in the Web-based Publication category. "The Real McCoy," published by Fort McCoy, Wis., placed second.
"We were able to win this award because of the great stories we have to tell," said John Harlow, the USAG-Natick Chief of Public Affairs. "The work done here at NSSC impacts every Soldier. We are fortunate to tell your stories."
Winners in 39 categories were chosen from more than 400 submissions from IMCOM garrisons around the world. Up to three entries from the print and community relations categories, and one from each broadcast category, will represent IMCOM in the Department of the Army-level competition.
The annual competition recognizes military and civilian employee practitioners for journalistic excellence and furthering the objectives of the Department of the Army public affairs program.
