GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- Lt. Gen. Michael Ferriter, commander, Installation Management Command, recognized U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr employees for their innovative ideas, best practices and selfless service during a visit, Jan. 27.

Ferriter's wife, Margie, and IMCOM Command Sgt. Maj. Donald Felt accompanied the commander on his visit, which also included USAGs Baden Wuerttemberg, Kaiserslautern, Ansbach and Garmisch, from Jan. 25-29.

This was Ferriter's first visit to Europe since taking command Nov. 17. He said Europe is a priority and he wanted to visit early in his command to observe this dynamic footprint.

"Show me this great installation," said Ferriter as the tour began. "Let me know what we should focus on."

Ferriter spoke with 2nd Cavalry Regiment Soldiers at the Stryker Inn Dining Facility and thanked them for their service.

Additionally, he toured the Grafenwoehr Military Community, stopping at Rose Barracks' Army Community Service and the postal center.

While at the postal center, Ferriter recognized KonamrE Cherry for her selfless service. Cherry volunteered several months at the postal center while her husband was deployed. She said she knew the post office needed help so she offered her assistance because she realized the importance receiving mail in a timely manner.

"I am a do-gooder," said Cherry. "I did not want to stay home when there is work that needs to be done."

Throughout his trip, Ferriter stressed the importance of quality customer service, taking care of community members, demonstrating inspired leadership and expressing gratitude.

"Down at the lowest level is where the difference is really made," said Ferriter. "The difference between good and great is a little bit of extra effort and care."

Ferriter acknowledged Grafenwoehr's commitment to supporting Soldiers, families and civilians, and encouraged employees to continue give their best.
