Senior leaders from the U.S. Army Contracting Command gathered in Huntsville, Ala., for the first ACC senior leader workshop of Fiscal Year 2012.

"It's important that we convene regularly to ensure that we are all working together to leverage the full capabilities of our enterprise," said Carol Lowman, ACC executive director. "We're reassessing our plans and strategic priorities to ensure we are in synch with the Department of the Army and the Army Materiel Command."

During the three-day workshop senior leaders from the U.S. Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command, the U.S. Army Expeditionary Contracting Command, contracting center executive directors, and ACC staff directors discussed diverse topics such as workforce development, internal controls and implementation of critical DoD and Army contracting initiatives.

In addition to the ACC workshop, ECC brought in all of its commanders and senior noncommissioned officers to discuss the state of ECC. During their two-day gathering, the ECC senior leadership lead discussions on the new command sergeant major positions within the command, the future deployment climate and training opportunities for contracting specialists.

ECC and MICC commanders provided overview briefings about their respective operations and priorities. Selected senior members of the ACC headquarters staff facilitated discussions within their areas of expertise.

The conference included a strategic planning workshop that addressed ACC's strategic priorities including growing and developing a professional civilian and military workforce; maintaining superior customer relationships; standardizing, improving and assuring quality contracting support, business processes and policies across the command; obtaining and maintaining needed resources; and enhancing the work environment and quality of life.
